一、用法不同
1、such as除表示举例外，还可表示诸如此类，意思是“像……这样的”“诸如……之类的”，但for example只表示例如，举例来说。如：
Avoid unhealthy foods such as hamburger and chips.
不要吃汉堡和薯条之类的不健康食品。
2、另外，such as有时可分开用，但for example不能分开用。如：
For example, London is the capital of Britain.
例如，伦敦是英国的首都。
二、两者位置的不同点
1、such as用于举例时，总是跟在被说明的内容之后，不能独立成句，也不能用于句首或句末，其后也不能用逗号。
2、for example用来举例说明某一论点或情况，一般只举同类人或物中的"一个"为例，作插入语(句子结构不因它而受影响)，可位于句首、句中或句末。
三、后接成分不同
1、for example 一般会跟一个完整的句子。
如：For example, if he goes there, he has to to take his passport with him.
例如，如果他去了那里，他必须随身携带护照。
2、such as一般接一个名称成分。
比如：I like many colors, such as red and blue.
我喜欢很多颜色，比如红色和蓝色。
